handwritten logo reading "nabiu"

I've wanted to change the about page for a few weeks now. The current one doesn't reflect what Nabiu is about. But the thing is I'm not sure I can define something that hasn't taken enough shape to be put into words and on an about page... Nabiu's structure is solid, but it's form isn't final... Like a living ecosystem.

I'm still in the journey of exploring the things that I want to get out into the world from this project. It may have started with web design, but it's already evolving beyond that. As someone who can't just do one thing, I want this project to hold my multi-dimensional and exploratory nature.

If you've read the garden, you know Nabiu isn't about web design. I also think about systems, creative expression, personal ownership in the web, illustration, graphic design...

The other day I made a mind map of topics, practices, forms, methods... The mind map also expanded into other projects outside nabiu, like my more casual, experimental newsletter, No room for perfection. Then I made lists of things that fit nabiu, by categories: values, methods, forms, general topics and specific topics.

Here are the lists I made:

Values

  • Personality

  • Passion

  • Curiosity

  • Creativity

  • Humanity

  • Emotion

  • Authenticity

Methods

  • Worldbuilding

  • Metaphors

  • Storytelling

  • Systems

  • Digital gardening

Forms

  • Web (through offerings, gifts and this website)

  • Print (not explored yet)

  • Visuals (illustrations)

  • Writing (garden)

  • Publishing (digital home zine)

Topics

  • Internet

  • Design

  • Creativity

  • Web design

  • Creative expression

  • Organization

  • Ownership

  • Multipassionates

Specific topics

  • Digital homes

  • Personal websites

(This list only has the topics I've explored so far, so the idea is that it would always grow)

I have a newsletter where I update on new posts (and sometimes share things behind them too)
