As does every web designer, I love browsing the web in search of beautiful, inspiring websites, especially ones that do things differently, that center around personality and human-ness. Today I wanted to share some of the websites that I've browsed recently and what I've loved about them.

Bouquet

The first website is Bouquet, a "flavor arrangement atelier" whose design I've been seeing a lot on Pinterest lately. Following the tasteful brand identity by Walk A Thought, the website (developed by metarialist) creates such a great experience. It's full of personality, bold, functional, and communicates what the brand is about perfectly.

Their big paragraph typography is something I personally love to see. A big text when it'd usually be small makes that much more of an impact.

The illustrations and unique product pages are also so so good... I'll let them speak for themselves.

Elena Borisova

This next website is of psychologist and therapist Elena Borisova.

I could not find the designer(s)/developer(s) who created it. If you happen to know them, please let me know and I'll credit them!

Something I loved about this website is that it doesn't follow a conventional structure. It doesn't start with a business-card-like section. In other words, it's unafraid of doing something different than what "you're supposed to do", and instead focuses on telling its own story, in its own way. For example, the letters in the first section are spread randomly but become clear and readable after scrolling down, which I read as a metaphor for therapy.

Another aspect I loved is the illustrations and how much they play a part in the design. They don't just illustrate concepts really well and add a handmade touch, they also accompany the layout and message. Like the numbers and arrows in this section below…

… or these books that represent different issues Elena works with, that work together with the buttons to know more.

Advocacy Through Walls

When I was researching for my thesis, during which I created the Digital Home webzine, I analysed a website called Decriminalize Poverty, designed and developed by Tubik. And recently, when browsing their work, I came across another project for the same client, Zealous.

This website — Advocacy Through Walls — is a guide for advocates of incarcerated people. It uses visual storytelling, movement, and elements of editorial design to create an engaging reading experience.

The design, layout, animations, illustrations in this website all inspire me a lot. Websites like this are great examples of using the web to, with a lot of creativity, make text-heavy publications much more memorable and easy to read.

I very much invite you to explore these websites on your own since images cannot do justice to their full design, movements, and overall experience.
