Adding worldbuilding to my web design offering

The last couple weeks I've been working on my web design offering. And with that, I'm reshaping how I think about the web design process, what a website really is for my clients, and the ways in which I want to work. Just like with this website and this digital garden, I'm finding it very inspiring to use metaphors and aspects of worldbuilding also for offerings. I'm thinking of the process of building a website for a client as a sort of adventure, or a journey, where we unlock things along the way.

For example, I'm thinking of the project milestones (discovery, website map, first design...) as objects to collect. Instead of a discovery phase with a brief as a result, I see it as an understanding phase the result of which is a compass. And this compass will guide the rest of the project. Practically speaking, the compass is a document (or a page in Notion in my case) with all the information collected in the phase about the client and what they want their website to be and do and a moodboard to understand the visual direction we're going towards.
Adding these meanings to an offering and its process makes the more boring parts and tasks of shaping a service much more exciting. And in turn, (I hope) it also makes it more exciting for those who decide to work with me.
